THE SKIING
GRINDELWALD
Two valleys, three mountain ranges and 206 kilometres of perfectly prepared pistes. In the Jungfrau ski region snow fans can enjoy activities of all types and be in their element. The winter paradise with the backdrop of Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau offers skiers and snowboarders everything their hearts desire: gentle slopes, steep drops, snow and fun parks, racing tracks and powder parties.The two ski regions of First and Kleine Scheidegg – Männlichen – Wengen offer 170 km of pistes with around 30 lifts reaching up to an altitude of 2500 m. The Schilthorn near Mürren, also part of the Jungfrau region ski arena, even reaches 2971 metres. But the most spectacular piste of the region is without doubt the Lauberhorn piste near Wengen, popularised by the World Cup circus.
Choose from 100 km of winter walking trails with views across seven four-thousand-metre peaks and majestic glaciers, as well as 50 km of toboggan runs, including, at 15 km, one of the longest toboggan runs in the Alps from the Faulhorn into the valley.
WENGEN
Home to one of the legendary World Cup Downhill races - The Lauberhorn..Wengen is the middle village of the ski area.
The car-free resort of Wengen is situated on a sunny plateau and offers breathtaking view to the Jungfrau. Key excursion is the railway trip to the Jungfraujoch - Top of Europe.
With its nostalgic timber houses, the many dispersed holiday chalets and hotels dating from the belle époque period, this Bernese Oberland holiday resort has retained all the character of a picture-postcard mountain village. Opening widely to the south west, the terrace guarantees above-average hours of sunshine. Wengen is the ideal starting point for the family-friendly ski region of Kleine Scheidegg-Männlichen with 110 km of predominantly easy to medium-difficulty pistes, and the renowned World Cup piste on the Lauberhorn as its crowning glory.
MURREN
Mürren is a car-free village and the third part of this ski area. Lower down on the mountain, the slopes are intermediate but when you venture higher up - you will encounter some of the ski area's challenging runs including The Inferno which is a 15km run that has it all: wide, pristine pistes and paths cut into steep mountains with huge towering rock faces that go on forever.
Schilthorn-Piz Gloria
Enjoy the 360° breathtaking view of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau (UNESCO world heritage site) and more than 200 other mountain peaks in the world’s first revolving mountain restaurant Piz Gloria. On a clear day, you can even see as far as the Mont Blanc massif in France and Germany’s Black Forest. Also for non-skiers is the interactive Bond World 007.
At the end of the day, venture into the Tachi Bar at the Hotel Eiger for some fun apres ski.
