Saas-Fee is a traditional alpine village oozing charm and a lively atmosphere. The car-free village (1800m) lies at the foot of the highest mountain in Switzerland, the Dom (4545m), which can be viewed in all its glory from the world's highest revolving restaurant.
Saas-Fee caters for most requirements..families, beginners..those seeking high altitude skiing. There is the Aqua Allalin wellness centre with a 25m indoor pool and range of facilities including a variety of saunas. In the evening you can dine out from traditional pizzeria to a michelin starred restaurant.
Saas-Fee's narrow streets, lined with attractive old buildings and newer low-rise chalets, are a charming setting for a stroll. And the surrounding mountains are stunning – known as The Pearl of the Alps, the resort has 13 peaks measuring 4,000m and higher towering above it.
Offering over 100km of piste including snow sure glacier skiing..the challenging ski areas of Saas-Grund and Saas-Allmagell, further down the valley, are included in the excellent Saas-Fee ski network. In and around Saas-Fee itself the delightful blue and red runs are ideal for beginner and intermediate skiers and boarders.
With its 22 lifts and 100 km of prepared pistes, the winter ski region of Saas Fee forms the heart of the entire ski region. In addition to Saas-Fee, there is a further ski area in the nearby region of Kreuzboden-Hochsaas above Saas-Grund. Twenty kilometres of winter walking trails and an 8-km-long cross-country ski trail are provided for non-Alpine skiers. Various toboggan runs, such as the 11-km-long toboggan run from Kreuzboden to Saas-Grund offer alternatives to skiing.
Most of the slopes are north-facing and above 2,500m, which makes for very reliable and light powdery snow, and there's a powerful lift system as well, starting with a 30-person gondola that whisks 1,500 people per hour from the village up to Felskinn at 3,000m.
